Biography

Samir Mehta, M.D. is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. His expertise lies in orthopaedic trauma, with a focus on epigenetics, biomarker identification, and the biomechanics of injury and healing. He has contributed to the understanding of clinical outcomes related to various types of fractures including pelvic and acetabular fractures, as well as conditions such as nonunions and malunions. Dr. Mehta is also interested in adult education principles in surgical training and bioethics within orthopaedic surgery. His work examines the impact of the 80-hour workweek on resident education and he incorporates surgical simulations in training methodologies.
