Biography

Vicki Chartrand is a Full Professor in the Sociology Department at Bishop’s University, Quebec, located on the traditional territory of the Abenaki people. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Criminology Department at the University of Ottawa. Chartrand is the founder and Director of the Centre Justice Exchange, a research center focused on collaborative community justices. Her research includes mapping intersections of carceral and colonial systems, as well as uncovering community-driven grassroots justice initiatives. With 25 years of experience working with women, children, Indigenous communities, and individuals in prison, her work emphasizes community-engaged scholarship and resurgent methodologies.
