Dr. Elham Emami

Biography

Elham Emami is a clinician-scientist and Full Professor, currently serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences at McGill University. She has undergone postgraduate professional training in Prosthodontics (MSc, Université de Montréal) and completed her research training in Biomedical Science (PhD, joint program between McGill University and Université de Montréal) with a focus on Dental Public Health during her Postdoctoral fellowship at McGill University. Additionally, she pursued a Postdoctoral fellowship in Cancer Epidemiology at the Environmental Epidemiology Population Health research group at Université de Montréal. Dr. Emami's research program emphasizes fostering oral health through interdisciplinary research aimed at intervention, access, and impact, and has received support from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and various Quebec governmental grants. She has held numerous executive positions at national and international levels within organizations such as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the International Association for Dental Research. Dr. Emami is also a member of editorial boards for the Journal of Dental Research and the Journal of the Canadian Dental Association. Her accolades include the CIHR Clinician-Scientist Award II in 2019-2020, election as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, and receiving the Prix Mérite from the Ordre des dentistes du Québec in 2024. As Dean, she provides visionary leadership to ensure high-quality student-centered undergraduate and graduate programs while supporting community services and faculty research activities.
