Rona Abramovitch redefined leadership through her role as a senior advisor at Ryerson University. With a doctorate in developmental psychology from the University of Minnesota, she has significantly impacted higher education access for youth and adults. Previously, she taught at the Mississauga campus of the University of Toronto, where she also served as the Status of Women Officer and director of the Transitional Year Program. In 2006, she transitioned to Ryerson University to focus on outreach and access, driven by her belief in the transformative power of education. She founded the Spanning Gaps program, which aims to create equitable post-secondary education opportunities. For her pioneering work, Rona received the Alan Shepard Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion award in 2013, recognizing her commitment to supporting students. Additionally, she has served as the interim senior advisor for equity, diversity, and inclusion, where she played a crucial role in establishing the assistant vice-president position dedicated to these principles. Rona continues to lead initiatives that promote equity, diversity, and community engagement at her university.
