Alicia Viaud is an Assistant Professor in the Department of French Literature at the Université de Montréal, specializing in modern letters and the literature and civilization of France. She is an associate researcher at the laboratory 'Formes et idées de la Renaissance aux Lumières' (FIRL EA 174) at Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3 and a member of the Research Group in the History of Sociability. Her revised doctoral thesis, 'À hauteur humaine. La fortune dans l’écriture de l’histoire (1560-1600)', was published in 2021 by Droz. Her research focuses on forms of historical writing and self-writing in the second half of the 16th century, textual representations of fortune, chance, and human relationships with time. She is a member of the editorial committee of the Bulletin of the Société des Amis de Montaigne and actively engages in discussions centered on Montaigne's 'Essais.' Additionally, she co-directs issues of the online journal Le Verger and participates in the Cornucopia Association, which connects emerging researchers interested in the Renaissance period.
