Dr. Wei Zhang

Biography

Wei Zhang is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia. He serves as the Program Head of Health Economics at the Centre Advancing Health Outcomes. He completed his MA in Economics at the University of Ottawa and earned a PhD in Health Care and Epidemiology from the UBC School of Population and Public Health. Dr. Zhang's research focuses on integrating theoretical and empirical findings to inform health policies and practices through economic theories and methods. As a Michael Smith Health Research BC Scholar, his work emphasizes developing methods to measure the value of work productivity loss among patients and caregivers, incorporating patient-reported outcomes and costs from a societal perspective. His research interests also encompass pharmaceutical policy and enhancing research capacity through the linkage of pharmaceutical databases.
