Biography

Juan Carlos (JC) Carbajal is an Associate Professor with the School of Economics at UNSW Sydney, having joined UNSW in 2013 after five years at the University of Queensland. He holds a BA in Economics from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and a PhD in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis. His research interests encompass game theory, mechanism and auction design, behavioral economic theory, and political economy. Carbajal's work explores economic theory to analyze fundamental questions of institutional design, including allocation mechanisms and political institutions. He has recently focused on encoding models of bounded rationality using Bayesian networks to investigate decision-making within misspecified models.
