Biography

Robin Roots is an Associate Professor at the University of Northern British Columbia, leading various educational and research initiatives in Physiotherapy. With a focus on interprofessional education and collaborative practice, Robin dedicates significant time to teaching and enhancing the professional development of health care professionals. His research emphasizes rural health, exploring themes such as cultural safety and competency, with specific studies investigating the rehabilitation practices employed by occupational and physical therapists in remote regions of British Columbia. His Master’s research included interviews with practitioners who creatively address resource shortages, showcasing their ability to adapt and fulfill community health needs. Robin is actively involved in evaluating interprofessional learning programs, including the Interprofessional Rural Program in British Columbia, and he contributes to a national review of interprofessional education tools for health care. His diverse experience is reflected in multiple publications and presentations that advocate for improved education and health care delivery in rural contexts.
