Professor Paolo Ferrari is the current Chief Medical Officer of the Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale in Ticino and a medical consultant in nephrology at the Ospedale Civico of Lugano. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate medical training at the University Hospital of Berne obtaining certifications in internal medicine and nephrology, and specialist certification in hypertension from the European Society of Hypertension. Professor Ferrari migrated to Australia in 2003, where he remained until August 2017. He was the Founding Director of the Australian Paired Kidney Exchange Program and the Director of Kidney Transplantation at Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney. He was appointed as Officer of the Order of Australia in 2015 for his contributions to kidney transplantation. He has served as Past-President of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology and has participated in various committees including ISN and TTS. Professor Ferrari has published over 180 scientific papers and maintains a robust research focus, particularly in chronic kidney disease and transplantation.
