Kristin Bright is an Associate Professor at Middlebury College specializing in cultural medical anthropology. She holds appointments in social behavioral health at the University of Toronto's Dalla Lana School of Public Health and in sociocultural anthropology at Carleton University. With a PhD from the University of California, Santa Cruz, completed in 1998, Dr. Bright has extensive postdoctoral experience in medical humanities. Her research includes leading NIH funded projects on young adult substance use and mental health, as well as large multi-site studies on advanced breast cancer. Dr. Bright directs the Body Online lab, focusing on student-faculty collaborative research in youth health, cancer treatment, and relational sexual health. Current projects involve community-based research with a focus on relational wellbeing and cancer patient advocacy, particularly in rural Vermont. She advises and co-supervises graduate students in various interdisciplinary areas, including feminist health humanities, structural inequalities in cancer treatment, and participatory methods in research. Her work has involved collaborations across Canada, Denmark, and Aotearoa, examining the intersections of technology, health, and community education.
