Maritt Kirst is an Assistant Professor at the Wilfrid Laurier University and holds an associate member position at the University of Toronto’s Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation. Dr. Kirst specializes in evaluation and research within complex health interventions, focusing on integrated care for populations with complex care needs. Her research interests are diverse and encompass health services research, community care, mental health, addictions, homelessness, tobacco control, health equity, and social capital. She employs mixed methods in her research which includes quantitative and qualitative approaches. Dr. Kirst has been involved in significant projects such as the Mental Health Commission Canada’s Demonstration Project on homelessness and mental health in Toronto, and she has published extensively on topics related to substance use, mental health, and health equity.
