David L. Mowat is an adjunct professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. He holds a MBChB from the University of Edinburgh and a Master of Public Health from the University of California at Berkeley. Mowat has extensive experience in public health, having served in various roles including Medical Officer of Health for Peel Region and Deputy Chief Public Health Officer at the Public Health Agency of Canada. His research interests include knowledge translation, public health workforce development, and the implementation of population health interventions and policies. Over the years, he has contributed to numerous publications addressing critical public health issues, knowledge translation, and evidence-informed decision making. He has received multiple awards for his dedication to public health, including honorary memberships and distinguished service awards from various health associations in Canada. Mowat is currently engaged in consulting in public health and continues to educate future public health professionals through his teaching responsibilities in postgraduate training programs. His work aims to improve health policies and preventive strategies at the community level, emphasizing the importance of effective knowledge use in public health practice.
