Dr. Sagi Abelson

Biography

Sagi Abelson is an Assistant Professor at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research, specializing in Molecular Genetics. With a focus on bioinformatics and computational biology, his research aims to characterize the extrinsic selective pressures and cell-intrinsic mechanisms governing clonal dominance in cancer-prone diseases. His group is dedicated to generating and analyzing multi-omics data, with the goal of improving the current understanding of cancer etiology, discovering new biomarkers, and facilitating personalized treatment approaches to enhance patient outcomes. Research efforts include developing advanced sequencing methodologies and bioinformatics tools to improve mutation detection accuracy and ease of data interpretation.
