Louis Spoor is a Lecturer at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in the School of Business and Economics, specializing in Accounting Information Systems, Internal Control, Risk Management, and Information Management. He started his career in the audit practice of various accounting firms before transitioning into academia in 1992. Since then, he has been involved in several educational projects, including collaborations with the World Bank to modernize accounting education in Russia. Spoor teaches master courses in Accounting Information Systems and Risk Management and is actively involved in program development and quality assurance within the university’s Graduate Programs. He has published research in topics related to internal control and risk management and has contributed to ongoing professional education through workshops in these areas. In addition to his teaching and research, he serves on the Ethics Committee of the Vereniging van Registercontrollers, focusing on compliance in education for financial professionals.
