Biography

Anessa Kimball is a full professor since 2021 in the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, director of the Centre sur la sécurité internationale (CSI, Centre on International Security), and co-director of the Canadian Defence and Security Network (CDSN). Kimball is among the rotating co-hosts of Battle Rhythm, the CDSN podcast, and regularly contributes to Radio-Canada on US electoral politics and foreign policy, NATO, as well as Canadian defence policy. Their recent publications include significant works on NATO's defence spending, climate change and security, and the implications of US defense agreements. Kimball is recognized for advocating rationalistic and economic approaches to international cooperation and security, particularly in relation to NATO and other international institutions. They engage actively in media discussions on issues such as Canada-US relations and the geopolitical implications of Russian actions regarding NATO.
