Philipp Afèche is a Visiting Professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Previously, he was a Professor of Operations Management and Statistics at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. His research focuses on the interface between operations and marketing/economics, addressing revenue and supply chain management issues. He emphasizes pricing, service design, and resource allocation problems that arise in congestion-prone services, such as on-demand transportation and healthcare delivery systems. Afèche has published in leading journals, including Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and Operations Research. He won the 2014 Paper Award for his work published in Manufacturing & Service Operations Management and has served as an Associate Editor for both Management Science and Operations Research. Additionally, he has acted as an expert reviewer for national funding agencies in Canada, Hong Kong, Israel, and the United States. Afèche was the past chair of the Service Management Special Interest Group in the Manufacturing Service Operations Management Society and received the Roger Martin Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2018. He teaches courses in statistics, operations supply chain management, revenue management, and matching markets.
