Tiffany Tseng is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Barnard College, Columbia University. She directs the Design Tools Lab, where she develops design tools that empower beginners to realize their creative potential. Her research leverages computational technologies to enable creative expression in design contexts. With experience in animation, machine learning modeling, electronics prototyping, and online design communities, Tseng's interdisciplinary work encompasses systems building and design-based research. Before joining Barnard, she was a research scientist at Apple and held academic positions at the University of Tokyo. She also spent several years as a lead UX designer at Tinkercad and other companies. Tseng received her PhD from the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab. Her notable projects focus on enhancing design practices and education across various contexts, often involving collaboration with community partners.
