Biography

Stephanie Shintani Smith, MD, MS, is a board-certified Otolaryngologist and Head Neck Surgeon. She specializes in the medical and surgical management of sinonasal and salivary gland diseases. Smith holds academic appointments at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where she serves as an Associate Professor and the Associate Residency Program Director for the Department of Otolaryngology-Head Neck Surgery. She has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and her clinical research emphasizes quality and effectiveness in the treatment of rhinosinusitis and minimally invasive salivary gland surgery. She graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Bioengineering from Washington University in St. Louis and went on to receive her MD from Mayo Medical School. Additionally, she completed her MS at Northwestern University focusing on Health Services Outcomes Research. Dr. Smith has received several prestigious awards, including the National Research Scholars Award from the Triological Society and the K12 Patient-Centered Intervention Engagement Faculty Scholars Program award at Northwestern University. She actively contributes to the academic community, serving on multiple committees within professional societies, and is a member of the editorial board for JAMA Otolaryngology - Head Neck Surgery.
