Victor Duarte is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign since 2019. He received his Ph.D. in Finance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2018. Duarte also holds an M.A. in Economics from Getulio Vargas Foundation in Rio de Janeiro, attained in 2012, and a B.Eng. in Aeronautical Engineering from the Aeronautical Institute of Technology in São José dos Campos, obtained in 2009. His research interests lie primarily in applying machine learning techniques to continuous-time finance. His recent publications include works on nominal-price illusions and machine learning applications in finance. At the university, he teaches courses such as Introduction to Machine Learning in Finance and Machine Learning in Finance. His courses emphasize practical experience with algorithms and their applications in financial contexts, including option pricing and credit card fraud detection. Duarte is motivated by a passion for integrating advanced computational methods into financial analysis, guiding students in developing robust predictive models and understanding algorithmic strategies.
