Dr. Youssef Idaghdour

Associate Professor

Biography

Youssef Idaghdour is an Associate Professor of Biology at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD). His research primarily focuses on the interaction between genomes and environmental factors, particularly in the context of health-related phenotypes and their implications for disease outcomes. His work employs high-dimensional genomic datasets from various biological systems, including single cells and tissues, using bioinformatics and statistical genetics to analyze these data. Idaghdour is also engaged in ecological genomics, developing genetic tools for the population genetic analysis of endangered marine species like Houbara bustards and falcons. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Ibn Zohr University in Agadir, followed by a Master of Science in Molecular Genetics at the University of Leicester and a Ph.D. in Genetics from North Carolina State University. He has received a Fulbright Scholarship and the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship, contributing to medical population genomics at the Sainte-Justine Research Center in Montreal before joining NYUAD.
