Biography

Andrew Hanna is an award-winning entrepreneur, lawyer, author, and professor focusing on financial inclusion, human rights, and global social entrepreneurship. He co-founded Mona, a fintech platform that connects underbanked small business entrepreneurs to affordable capital, and serves as a senior fellow at the Social Finance Institute. Previously, he co-founded DreamxAmerica, which highlights the stories of immigrant, refugee, and first-generation entrepreneurs. His work has been recognized in Fast Company's World Changing Ideas List, and the documentary short film from DreamxAmerica was nominated for a Chicago Emmy Award. Hanna authored '25 Million Sparks: The Untold Story of Refugee Entrepreneurs,' published by Cambridge University Press, showcasing the stories of Syrian women entrepreneurs in the Za'atari camp. He has contributed to discussions on the constitutionality of solitary confinement. Hanna's previous leadership roles include launching a global youth employment non-profit and advising U.S. government agencies on youth engagement and suicide prevention. He holds an MBA with honors from Stanford and a J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. Hanna has been recognized in the Forbes 30 Under 30 List for his impactful work.
