Biography

Shrinivas R. Kulkarni is a renowned professor at the California Institute of Technology specializing in Astronomy and Planetary Science. He has an extensive background in Radio Astronomy, starting as a Millikan Research Fellow at Caltech from 1985 to 1987. He served as an Assistant Professor from 1987 to 1990, an Associate Professor from 1990 to 1992, and a Professor from 1992 to 1996. Since then, he has held prestigious titles including the Hale Professor starting in 2017 and the MacArthur Professor previously. Kulkarni has directed the Caltech Optical Observatories, overseeing significant advancements in observational techniques. His research interests cover a broad array of topics including Compact Objects, Transients, and innovative Instrumentation.
