Biography

Sridhar Tayur is the Ford Distinguished Research Chair and a University Professor in Operations Management at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business. He received his Ph.D. in Operations Research from Cornell University and an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. Recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus, he is an INFORMS Fellow and has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE). Tayur has held visiting professor positions at prestigious institutions such as Cornell, MIT, and Stanford. He has a strong track record in academia, having served as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and now Professor at the Tepper School since 1991. In addition to his academic role, he is involved in non-academic pursuits as the Founder and CEO of OrganJet Corporation and previously founded SmartOps Corporation. His academic and professional journey reflects a commitment to Operations Management and its application to real-world challenges.
