Biography

J. Webster Stayman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. He also serves as Co-Director of the Biomedical Engineering Master's Program. His research focuses on medical imaging, including the modeling, design, and optimization of imaging systems such as x-ray CT and cone-beam CT. His work integrates interventional imaging with patient-specific and device-specific workflows, employing advanced signal processing, estimation theory, and optimization. Stayman has been instrumental in developing sophisticated image reconstruction algorithms and acquisition strategies that enhance high-performance imaging while reducing patient exposure to ionizing radiation. He earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2003, and has held positions that showcase his expertise in both academic and applied research settings.
