Dr. Warren Grill

Professor

Biography

Warren Grill is a James B. Duke Distinguished Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University. His research focuses on neural engineering, particularly in the areas of neural prostheses, deep brain stimulation, and the electrical properties of tissues and cells. Grill employs engineering methods to comprehend and control neural function and develops applications for restoring functions impaired by neurological injuries. His laboratory works on advanced techniques for deep brain stimulation to treat movement disorders, novel electrical stimulation methods for bladder function restoration, spinal cord stimulation for chronic pain treatment, and the design of electrodes and stimulation waveforms. Grill has published extensively, contributing to over several hundred scientific articles and is recognized as a thought leader in biomedical engineering and neural technologies.
