Dr. Zheng Kuang

Assistant Professor

Biography

Zheng Kuang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University. His research focuses on the interactions between gut microbiota and circadian rhythms, exploring the molecular mechanisms that regulate these relationships and their effects on metabolism and immune functions. Kuang employs a range of techniques, including genomics and laser capture microscopy, to investigate how microbiota influence circadian programs and subsequently impact health. His work aims to identify new therapeutic avenues for metabolic and immunological diseases by elucidating the role of gut microbes in host physiological processes. Kuang has published various studies demonstrating the critical interactions between microbiota and host circadian behaviors, uncovering epigenetic modifications associated with these interactions. His scholarly contributions encompass research in microbial regulation, epigenetic mechanisms, and the broader implications of microbiota on health and disease.
