John Jimah is an Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology at Princeton University, having started in January 2022. His research focuses on membrane remodeling in human cells and malaria parasites, utilizing structural biology techniques like cryo-electron microscopy and cryo-electron tomography. Malaria poses a significant global health challenge, with approximately 200 million cases reported annually. Jimah's studies aim to uncover the structural biology of malaria-related parasites, particularly the mechanisms of membrane remodeling that are essential for parasite propagation and human infection. His journey began in Ghana and led him to the U.S. for college, where he earned a B.A. in Molecular Biology from Colgate University. He later completed his Ph.D. in Biology with a focus on Biomedical Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, contributing to understanding a malaria vaccine candidate. His postdoctoral work included significant studies into the interplay of membrane dynamics and cellular processes, establishing expertise in the field of structural cell biology.
