Dr. Stephen Choi

Professor

Biography

Stephen Choi is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Simon Fraser University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1996. His research interests lie in number theory, particularly in Diophantine approximations, Diophantine equations, and related problems such as the Goldbach-Waring problems. Choi's work involves exploring various aspects of Diophantine equations, which are central to number theory, including the famous Fermat's Last Theorem and problems concerning the representation of integers as sums of fixed powers of integers. He is also focused on Littlewood Polynomials and their properties, which have implications in combinatorics and information theory. His goal is to investigate the behavior of the L4 norms of these polynomials and their significance within mathematical research. Notably, Choi has contributed to the understanding of prime solutions to Diophantine equations and their representation through innovative analytical methods. He teaches courses related to mathematics for life sciences and differential equations.
