Dr. Steven Haase

Professor

Biography

Steven B. Haase is a Professor of Biology at Duke University, where he leads research on biological clock mechanisms and their control over the timing of events in the cell division cycle. His group proposed a new model for a complex network of sequentially activated transcription factors that regulate gene expression timing during the cell cycle, functioning as a robust time-keeping oscillator. His research has uncovered important insights into dynamic biological processes such as circadian rhythms and developmental cycles through transcriptomic analyses. His work has been recognized through various appointments, including being an Associate Professor in Medicine and a Professor in Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics Microbiology. Haase holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University and a B.S. from Colorado State University.
