Ludovic Righetti is a Professor at the Tandon School of Engineering of New York University and holds the International Chair in Artificial Natural Intelligence at the Toulouse Institute. He co-created and co-directs the Center for Robotics and Embodied Intelligence, participating actively in the advancement of robotic technologies. His research focuses on the planning and control of movements in autonomous robots, particularly emphasizing legged locomotion and manipulation. Righetti's academic journey includes a Doctorate in Robotics from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, where he studied under Professor Auke Ijspeert, and a postdoctoral fellowship in the Computational Learning and Motor Control Lab with Professor Stefan Schaal at the University of Southern California. He has led an independent research group at the Max-Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen, Germany, before moving to New York University in September 2017. He has received several prestigious awards for his contributions to the field of robotics, including the Georgess Giralt PhD Award in 2010 and the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society's Early Career Award in 2016. Righetti is passionate about understanding how robotics can address societal needs and enhance quality of life, aiming to create an equitable society through technology.
