Luigi Zingales' research interests span corporate governance, financial development, political economy, and the economic effects of culture. He co-developed the Financial Trust Index, designed to monitor the level of trust Americans have in the financial system. In addition to his position at Chicago Booth, Zingales is a faculty research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a research fellow at the Center for Economic Policy Research, as well as a fellow at the European Governance Institute. In 2014, he served as President of the American Finance Association and co-hosts the podcast 'Capitalisn't.' In July 2015, he became the director of the Stigler Center at the University of Chicago, focusing on research about regulatory capture and the distortions that special interest groups impose on capitalism. His research earned him the 2003 Bernácer Prize for young European financial economists.
