Dr. Patrick Allard

Associate Professor

Biography

Dr. Patrick Allard is an Associate Professor in the College of Life Sciences at UCLA, where his research focuses on the nematode C. elegans to uncover the mechanisms underlying germ cell maintenance and differentiation. His lab utilizes innovative genetic, cellular, and molecular tools in C. elegans to gain rapid mechanistic insights into germline genes and pathways that may be disrupted by environmental exposures. Among the goals of his research are to comprehensively identify germline signaling nodes that are sensitive to environmental factors and to develop methodologies for assessing chemical impacts on germline function. Dr. Allard has contributed significantly to the understanding of how environmental toxins like Bisphenol affect germline integrity, including studies that demonstrate the impairment of double-strand break repair mechanisms and subsequent chromosome abnormalities. He has published multiple highlighted works in renowned journals, reflecting his expertise and impact in the field of reproductive biology.
