Peter Butler is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Pennsylvania State University. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the City University of New York in 1999. Following this, he pursued postdoctoral research in Bioengineering at the University of California, San Diego, in 2001. His research interests primarily focus on cell biophysics, cellular mechanotransduction, and vascular physiology, utilizing quantitative microscopy techniques to explore how mechanical forces influence cellular processes. Butler has contributed to numerous publications in leading scientific journals, with a notable emphasis on mechanobiology and nanoparticle interactions with cells. His work aims to bridge traditional engineering principles with medical technology, thereby enhancing human health and societal wellbeing. Butler has also been recognized with several prestigious awards, including a Career Award from the National Science Foundation, and he is a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering.
