Matthew R. Klein, MD MPH FACEP is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Originally from Chicago, he earned his MD from Brown University in 2014. Dr. Klein trained in emergency medicine and completed a fellowship in medical education scholarship at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University. He has held various education leadership roles at Northwestern, including chief resident, assistant residency program director, and clerkship director, before joining the faculty at Brown's Emergency Medicine department in 2023. Currently, he serves as a mentor in the Mary B. Arnold program and as an emergency medicine specialty advisor at Brown. He is also a member of the medical school admissions committee and the committee on academic standing and professionalism. Clinically, he works as an attending physician at Rhode Island Hospital and Miriam Hospital. Dr. Klein's academic interests focus on curriculum design, simulation-based mastery learning, and career advising, with numerous publications in education journals such as Academic Medicine and Medical Teacher.
