Malachy Bishop is the Norman L. Barbara M. Berven Professor of Rehabilitation Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His academic and clinical work spans rehabilitation counseling, rehabilitation psychology, neuropsychology, and physical medicine rehabilitation within health care settings. He conducts significant research on the employment and psychosocial aspects of chronic neurological conditions, including multiple sclerosis and epilepsy, focusing on the adaptation to chronic illness and disability. Bishop has served in various prominent roles, including as a professor in Rehabilitation Counseling at the University of Kentucky and Coordinator of the Rehabilitation Counseling Doctoral Program. He has been involved with the Institute of Medicine Committee on Public Health Dimensions of the Epilepsies and has contributed as a consultant for the Epilepsy Foundation. His editorial experience includes serving on the boards of professional rehabilitation journals and authoring 135 articles and 35 book chapters. Among his accolades are the James F. Garrett Distinguished Career Rehabilitation Research Award and the Researcher of the Year Award from the National Council on Rehabilitation Education.
