Dr. Meng Deng

Associate Professor

Biography

Dr. Meng Deng is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural & Biological Engineering at Purdue University. His research interests include biomaterials, drug delivery, nanotechnology, and regenerative engineering. He received his Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Tsinghua University, China, in 2004, and his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia in 2010 under the mentorship of Dr. Cato T. Laurencin. His doctoral work focused on the design and development of new polymeric biomaterials and nanostructured matrices for bone regeneration, which earned him several awards, including the Society for Biomaterials STAR award for outstanding thesis. Following his doctoral studies, he completed postdoctoral research at the University of Connecticut Health Center, focusing on material strategies for modulating cell function and tissue regeneration. He has collaborated with Professor Robert Langer at MIT as a visiting scientist, exploring biomaterials and high-throughput screening techniques. Dr. Deng encourages graduate and undergraduate students to contact him for research opportunities in his laboratory.
