Dylan McCreedy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Texas A&M University. He joined the department in 2019. His research focuses on the roles of early inflammation in tissue damage, wound healing, and spinal cord injury. McCreedy employs genetic and pharmacological methods to study how immune receptors and signaling pathways alter the accumulation and activation of early arriving immune cells, particularly neutrophils. He is developing new three-dimensional imaging strategies to characterize inflammation and tissue damage in spinal cord injuries. Additionally, using tissue clearing techniques and lightsheet microscopy, he aims to visualize the spatiotemporal effects of spinal cord injury in ways not achievable by traditional imaging methods. The knowledge gained from these studies aims to develop novel neuroprotective strategies to reduce inflammatory damage and improve long-term recovery for spinal cord-injured patients.
