Dr. Paul Picton is a Clinical Professor and the Senior Associate Chair for Clinical Affairs Quality in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan Medical School. He graduated from Sheffield University Medical School in the UK and completed his residency training in Internal Medicine and Anesthesiology at Southampton University Hospitals. His fellowship training focused on Liver Transplant and Hepatobiliary Anesthesia at the Institute of Liver Studies at Kings College Hospital, London, UK. Dr. Picton has held leadership roles including Director of Transplant Anesthesia and Director of Vascular Anesthesia within the department. His research interests primarily involve monitoring cerebral oxygenation and understanding cerebral hypoperfusion conditions. He has numerous publications in high-impact journals, contributing to discussions on anesthetic sensitivity and the effects of anesthetics on cerebral networks. Over the years, he has been a vital member of various committees and a mentor to many within the field of anesthesiology.
