Biography

Amit Kaushal is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at Stanford University. His work encompasses clinical medicine, teaching, research, and industry. He played a pivotal role in launching Stanford's undergraduate major in Biomedical Computation and has directed the program, which has seen the graduation of 70 students since its inception. His research interests focus on utilizing health data in novel and ethical ways to improve medical practice. Dr. Kaushal is also a faculty executive member of Stanford's Partnership for AI-Assisted Care and has worked with public health agencies to enhance the scale and speed of COVID-19 contact tracing efforts. He has held advisory roles in various startups, concentrating on the intersection of technology and healthcare. In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Kaushal continues to practice as an academic hospitalist. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Computation, his Doctor of Medicine, and his Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Informatics from Stanford University, and he underwent residency training in Internal Medicine at Stanford. Dr. Kaushal is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics.
