Biography

Guozhong Cao is the Boeing Steiner Professor at the University of Washington in the Department of Chemical Engineering. His current research primarily focuses on chemical processing, characterization of nanostructured materials, coatings, and their applications in energy-related fields, including biosensors and biomedical applications. His work emphasizes controlling and tailoring crystallinity, surface chemistry, and morphology to achieve desired electrochemical and optoelectrochemical properties in active materials for energy conversion and storage. His past research experiences include the development of coherent porous carbon-hydride nanocomposites for hydrogen storage, oxide scintillation films for neutron and gamma-ray detection, and complex oxide films for solid oxide fuel cells. Professor Cao has published numerous papers in respected journals, showcasing innovative advancements in materials science and energy storage technologies.
