George Q. Daley is the Dean of Harvard Medical School and holds the position of the Caroline Shields Walker Professor of Medicine. He is a Professor of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology. His research focuses on understanding the biology and pathology of hematopoietic pluripotent stem cells as well as the role of tissue stem cells in development and disease. The laboratory's investigations primarily center on murine and human blood development, elucidating common mechanisms in stem cell biology and cancer. Daley aims to define the fundamental principles that govern how stem cells contribute to tissue regeneration and repair, with the intention of improving drug and transplantation therapies for patients suffering from malignant genetic disorders and bone marrow diseases.
