Dr. Jason Gantenberg

Assistant Professor

Biography

Jason R. Gantenberg is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Epidemiology at Brown University. His primary research interests focus on infectious disease transmission, computational modeling, causal inference, and applied machine learning. He has a PhD dissertation that concentrated on using agent-based models to study gonorrhea transmission among men who have sex with men. His work includes epidemiologic research on respiratory syncytial virus and HIV, where he utilized ensemble machine learning techniques to predict seasonal influenza outbreaks. Currently, he is involved in the MAPPS Project (Mobility Analysis Pandemic Prevention Strategies), which implements Bluetooth and WiFi-based positioning systems to study contact networks and disease propagation in indoor environments. Gantenberg is also working on methods to improve localization accuracy using signal streams, as well as relating modeling biological features to Alzheimer's disease.
