Biography

Shivaun Archer is a Teaching Professor at Cornell University, primarily involved in undergraduate studies within the Department of Biomedical Engineering. She designs and teaches a range of undergraduate instructional laboratories that serve five key courses: BME 1310, BME 3010, BME 3020, BME 4010, and BME 4020. Her labs are meticulously crafted to align with course material while integrating cutting-edge technology and research methodologies. A significant focus of the labs is on biomedical nanotechnology, featuring hands-on modules that enhance student engagement through practical learning experiences in microfabrication, microfluidics, biosensors, and drug delivery systems. Dr. Archer's dedication to undergraduate education has been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the Outstanding Teaching Award from the American Society for Engineering Education, St. Lawrence Division. She is also an elected Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) for her contributions to instructional labs and received multiple awards for her excellence in teaching throughout her career. Prior to joining Cornell, Dr. Archer worked for five years at Lynntech, Inc., a research company specializing in biotechnology and environmental remediation, where her work contributed to advancements in wastewater treatment for long-term space missions, leading to receiving NASA Inventions Space Act Awards.
