Caroline Elizabeth Shamu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Chemistry & Molecular Pharmacology at Harvard Medical School. She serves as the Associate Dean for Research Cores Technology and is the Director of the ICCB-Longwood Screening Facility. This facility specializes in small molecule RNAi screening and high throughput screening in an academic environment. The ICCB-L operates on an investigator-initiated model, where users provide assays and materials necessary for their screening processes. Shamu's team is dedicated to supporting researchers throughout the screening process, from advice on assay strategies to data analysis. They developed the open source Screensaver laboratory information management system to manage data from high-throughput assays. Furthermore, Shamu is involved in the NIH-funded LINCS program, where she plays a pivotal role in establishing metadata standards for public repositories in the evolving field of systems pharmacology.
