Dr. John Bebawy

Biography

John Patrick Bebawy, MD, is a Professor of Neuroanesthesia at the Department of Anesthesiology, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. His primary clinical, educational, and research focuses include neurosurgical anesthesiology, perioperative neuroscience, cerebral hemodynamics, cerebrovascular surgery, awake craniotomy, intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring, and neuroendovascular procedures, particularly acute stroke interventions. He is involved in brain oncology and complex spine surgery while emphasizing perioperative patient safety. Dr. Bebawy completed his MD at Loyola University in 2003, followed by a transitional year internship at St. Francis Hospital and a residency in Anesthesiology at Northwestern University in 2007. He further specialized in Neurosurgical Anesthesiology through a fellowship in 2008 at the same institution. He holds board certification in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology and is actively engaged in various editorial roles and professional societies related to his fields of expertise.
