Dr. Ken Akers

Associate Professor

Biography

Ken Akers is an Associate Professor at Columbia College, having joined the faculty in 2012. He previously served as the chair of the department. He obtained his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Radford University, and a PhD in Organizational Communication from the University of Missouri. Akers has taught university-level courses in Management, Business Communication, Organizational Theory, Business Information Systems, Organizational Behavior, and Ethics, at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He has a background as a commissioned officer in the Army Reserve for 13 years, which informs his teaching and research. His primary research interests focus on Gender, Socialization, and Analytics within organizational contexts.
