Biography

Nancy Costello is a Clinical Professor of Law at Michigan State University College of Law, where she directs the Amendment Clinic and the Free Expression Online Library Resource Center. After earning her Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Michigan State University, she received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where she was editor of the Law Review and president of the Women's Law Caucus. Prior to her academic career, Professor Costello practiced in commercial litigation, defamation law, and e-business law at the law firm Dickinson Wright PLLC in Detroit. She brings over 15 years of experience as a journalist, having worked for notable news organizations including the Detroit Free Press and the Associated Press, covering significant events and issues from the Michigan state legislature to the advent of Gorbachev's 'Perestroika' in the Soviet Union. Her courses include Research, Writing Advocacy, and Intellectual Property Law, where she emphasizes the practical needs of student clinicians in the MSU Amendment Law Clinic.
