Biography

Dennis Kennedy is an information technology lawyer and legal technology pioneer based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is well-known for his role in promoting the use of technology in the practice of law. As a professional speaker and award-winning author, Dennis has made significant contributions to the field with hundreds of publications to his credit. He wrote a legal technology column for the ABA Journal for several years and co-authored books, including 'The Lawyer's Guide to Collaboration Tools and Technologies: Smart Ways to Work Together, 2nd Edition (ABA 2018)'. He also contributed to and co-hosts the long-running podcast, the Kennedy-Mighell Report, on the Legal Talk Network. Prior to his current role as President of Dennis Kennedy Advisory Services, LLC, which focuses on legal technology, innovation, speaking, writing, and coaching, Dennis retired as Senior Counsel for the Digital Payments & Labs group at Mastercard at the end of 2017. He currently chairs the board of the American Bar Association’s Legal Technology Resource Center and is a member of the ABA Law Practice Division’s Nominating Committee. Additionally, he teaches an adjunct course on Intellectual Property Licensing and Drafting at Washington University Law School. His course, Entrepreneurial Lawyering, helps students navigate the challenges of the legal profession in the 21st century by examining economic pressures, technological changes, and globalization.
