Biography

Kumar Rajaram is a professor of Decisions, Operations, and Technology Management at UCLA Anderson School of Management, holding the William E. Leonhard Chair in Management. His research focuses on developing analytical models to enhance operations across a variety of industries, including healthcare, nonprofit organizations, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and the petrochemical sector. Rajaram is recognized for his innovative work in creating a new control paradigm named 'Robust Process Control,' which significantly improves productivity in large-scale industrial processes. His research has been published in prestigious journals, including Operations Research and Management Science. A recipient of the Eric E Juline Faculty Excellence in Research Award from UCLA Anderson, Rajaram has also advanced methodologies that effectively balance supply and demand for products with short life cycles. Through these contributions, he has been acknowledged with the Franz Edelman Laureate award from the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) for his outstanding applications of operations research techniques in practice. Rajaram teaches various courses at UCLA Anderson, including the MBA core course on operations technology management and doctoral level courses on operations management.
