Biography

Charles F. Gammie is a Professor in the Department of Astronomy at the University of Illinois, with significant contributions in the fields of astrophysics and astronomy. His research interests focus primarily on black holes, planet formation, and star formation, as well as cosmic ray transport and interstellar turbulence. As a scholar, he has earned various accolades, including the title of Honors Teacher Ranked Excellent in Fall 2018. In addition to his primary role in Astronomy, he also holds a professorship in Physics, showcasing his interdisciplinary work and influence in the scientific community. He is recognized as a Richard Margaret Romano Professorial Scholar and has been actively involved with the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA).
